Note from Judi

Spring is coming. Even though this winter was one of the mildest on record, I am excited for the warmer weather. Spring is a time for renewal. It is also a time to reevaluate you skin care routine and perhaps tweak it a bit. Keep your eyes and ears open because we will be adding some new products to the boutique this month.

Enjoy the articles and look forward to an invite to our April event.

Hope to see you at the spa soon.

Look better, feel better, and live better,

Becoming Immune to Your Beauty Regimen?

Woman with MirrorYou have your beloved products lined up on your vanity but as time goes by, they don’t seem to be producing the phenomenal results you require. What's up with that? Is it possible you have actually become immune to your arsenal of beauty?

While it may seem like your skin has become immune to your favorite products, it hasn't! However, it can adapt to and eventually acclimate itself to some of the more irritating ingredients, such as glycolic acid and retinol. That's why your esthetician generally begins treatments with these products in low doses and then slowly increases the potency to avoid irritation.

Furthermore, your skin’s needs may change due to age or environmental factors. Relocating to another area with drastic weather changes from what you are used to can affect your skin. In addition, aging skin is constantly changing. The products you used in your 20s will not address the needs of your 40-something skin. This is the time to consult with your esthetician for a homecare makeover.

And that's not all. We all love to try new things… especially when we turn on the television or log in to social media sites that overwhelm us with shiny, new products! Don't get caught up in the hype. You've heard the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If your current products are effective, continue to use them.

So chances are you may not need to give up your favorite products. You don’t need to rotate your skin care regimen for fear of becoming immune. But if you’re not seeing the results you want, it's always best to consult with your esthetician to determine the cause before throwing out your favorite products. You may simply need a minor adjustment.

Fashion for Your Skin

Woman in Spring DressFun fashion trends are quickly emerging, and they are hot! Enjoy chiffons, silks, and stripes that show off those sleek legs and sexy shoulders. The slip dress has even made a comeback and it's slinkier and sassier than ever!

Before you head out on that spring shopping spree, make sure you provide some fashion for your skin first… meaning, unveil hydrated, smoothed, healthy skin as the canvas for the bright colors and trends you want to strut around in this season. Let us show you how!

Reveal radiant skin! As the weather is warming up, take this opportunity to get your skin in shape. You must exfoliate and moisturize to reveal youthful, dewy skin. Your Glam Spa professional can create a skin care regimen for both your face and body, and recommend the appropriate home care products to keep your skin glowing this spring.

Speaking of homecare products... Over-the-counter products, no matter how expensive they are, do not deliver the results that cosmeceuticals provide. The main differences between over-the-counter and cosmeceutical products are the active ingredients being used, their amounts, and the level of penetration into the skin.

Hydrate and renew your skin’s moisture balance with a body scrub. Then, moisturize! Your therapist can recommend a perfect at-home moisturizer to keep your skin smooth and supple.

Don't forget… water is crucial for healthy, vibrant skin. Drink at least 6 – 8 glasses of water each day. Staying hydrated inside and out is the key to a healthy body and beautiful skin. Your skin needs water. Drink up!
